Mariam Receives Prosthetic Legs and Continues Rehabilitation
A new step in Nangobi Mariam’s care, made possible by the people who have stood beside her.
A new step in Mariam’s care
Nangobi Mariam is a girl from Kamuli District, Uganda, whom we have supported through medical care and follow-up. She has been living with spina bifida and has had both legs amputated.
Today, we are grateful to share a new step in her journey: Mariam has received prosthetic legs. These artificial legs are an important part of her ongoing care.
This progress has been made possible through the kindness of our supporters. Your help has brought Mariam closer to her hope of standing and walking again.

Learning to use her new legs
Mariam is receiving treatment and rehabilitation at Mulago Hospital. She is learning to use her prosthetic legs and adjusting to this new stage of care.
Receiving the legs is an important milestone, but rehabilitation takes time. We continue to stand with Mariam and her family as she works through the next steps.

A moment from rehabilitation
This short video shows Mariam practising between parallel bars as she learns to use her prosthetic legs.
Her next need: suitable shoes
Mariam still needs suitable shoes that fit her prosthetic legs. The right footwear will support her as she continues rehabilitation.
Would you like to help with this need? Contact our team about shoes for Mariam so we can coordinate suitable support. You can also make a one-time or monthly donation to support our work with children and families.
Thank you for standing with Mariam
To everyone who has given, encouraged us or kept Mariam in their prayers: thank you. Your kindness has helped make this progress possible.
We are grateful to our donors, friends and partners for walking this journey with us. May God bless you for the care you continue to show.
