Outreach at Masese Island March 2024
On March 19, 2024, St. Jude Africa Children’s Foundation visited Masese Island and Masese Lake Site Primary School to support children, caregivers, and students near Jinja, Uganda.
The Masese Island outreach brought practical care to children and caregivers living with limited resources near Jinja. The visit included home and community support, then continued into school outreach at Masese Lake Site Primary School.
Masese Island outreach in March 2024
During the island visit, the team met children under the age of 18, including children living with disabilities and families who needed practical support. The outreach focused on useful items that could help children move through daily life with more comfort and dignity.
Support delivered during the visit included shoes, bags, clothing, blankets, and sanitary pads for girls. These items may look simple, but for many children they affect school attendance, health, confidence, and everyday safety.

Shoes, clothing, bags, and blankets helped families meet immediate household needs.
Books, pens, pencils, and rulers helped students participate in class and complete schoolwork.
Sanitary pads helped girls stay in school with fewer interruptions and more confidence.
School support at Masese Lake Site Primary School
After the island visit, the team continued to Masese Lake Site Primary School, where about 160 students were identified as needing extra support. The school outreach focused on materials that help children remain active in class and participate with confidence.
Students received exercise books, pencils, long rulers, pens, and sanitary pads for girls. These supplies support learning, personal care, and the daily routines that make school attendance more possible.
