JACF News: End of Year Report 2022
The 2022 report tells the story of an early year of growth for St. Jude Africa Children’s Foundation: school outreach, child care, disability inclusion, community awareness, and the lessons that shaped the work that followed.
In 2022, St. Jude Africa Children’s Foundation was still growing, but the mission was already clear: reach vulnerable children and caregivers with practical help, protect dignity, and keep building a foundation that can serve families with care and accountability.
What the 2022 report shows
The end-of-year report records a year of school visits, local fundraising, radio awareness, and direct support for children living with disability and vulnerability. It is an early record of how St. Jude Africa moved from concern into action.
The report matters because it shows more than activity. It shows direction. The foundation was learning how to reach children in schools, how to respond to basic needs, how to include children with disabilities, and how to build trust with families and local communities in Uganda.
Scholastic materials, hygiene items, food, shoes, and clothing helped children stay connected to learning.
Outreach included children at Balitwegomba Complex Home of Blind Children under Spire Road Primary School.
Local fundraising and awareness work helped more people understand the needs of children and caregivers.
School and community outreach
One major activity in the report was the October 22, 2022 school outreach. The team visited Spire Road Primary School, Kisima 1 Primary School, Kisima 2 Primary School, and Balitwegomba Complex Home of Blind Children under Spire Road Primary School.
The support included sanitary pads for girls, geometry sets, maize flour, beans, shoes, and clothing. These items may look simple, but for a child and caregiver they can affect school attendance, dignity, nutrition, and confidence.
Care is not only medical treatment. Sometimes care is a pair of shoes, food at the right moment, school materials, transport, or a caregiver knowing they are not alone.
Children reached through care
The report also connects to children whose stories continue on this website. Early care efforts helped shape the foundation’s current focus on medical follow-up, mobility support, education, nutrition, emergency help, and family support.
You can continue through Amon’s first care story, Ryan’s progress update, and Mariam’s journey to see how individual care stories grew from the same mission.
What changed after 2022
The report helped clarify what St. Jude Africa needed to strengthen: better records, safer field planning, clearer donor communication, and stronger ways to respond when children need medical care, mobility support, school access, or urgent family help.
Those lessons still matter. A strong charity website leaves donors with a clear understanding of the need, the response, the next step, and how their support can continue the work.
