In the Iganga District of Uganda lives Nabwire Salima, a bright and courageous four-year-old girl whose story is a powerful reminder of hope and resilience.
Born with spina bifida, a congenital condition affecting her spine and spinal cord, Salima has faced many challenges since birth. Yet, her radiant smile and gentle spirit continue to inspire everyone who meets her.
Behind Salima’s strength stands her devoted mother, Nakazibwe Shirah. After being abandoned by Salima’s father, Nakazibwe has single-handedly taken on the responsibility of providing for her daughter’s needs from daily care to medical treatment. Despite limited resources, she remains determined to give Salima the best possible start in life.
At St. Jude Africa Children’s Foundation, we believe that every child deserves the chance to grow, learn, and dream regardless of their physical challenges. Together, we can help make that a reality for Salima.
